Respecting Member privacy and safeguarding Member information is of utmost importance to IndiaIdeas, the organisation that owns and operates the BillDesk Service. What personally identifiable information does IndiaIdeas collect from me?

IndiaIdeas minimizes the collection of information that personally identifies you or allows you to be contacted ("Personal Information"). IndiaIdeas and its necessary service providers collect and use your Personal Information to operate the BillDesk Service, which includes providing customer service to end users, billers and financial institutions, to keep you informed of BillDesk services and to fulfill legal and regulatory obligations.

The basic way that BillDesk obtains information about you is through the registration process. When you register, there is some information that you are required to give ("Required Information") and some that you may volunteer to give ("Optional Information").

Required information is that data that IndiaIdeas needs in order to create your BillDesk account and fulfill our service commitment to you. This is collected on the enrollment form and from the Payment Authorization Form. The online enrollment form collects the necessary contact information (your name, address, phone number, email address, password and secret question & answer) to service your account.

Bank information is captured through completion of the Payment Authorization Form. This form is sent to you by mail for completion and signature. The completed form is returned to BillDesk with a voided check for each account from which you would like to pay your bills. Your bank name and account number is stored in our database.

Biller /Payee information is captured on the BillDesk site. The information collected allows us to pay those biller(s)/payee(s) that you ask us to pay on your behalf from your account. We store the biller's / payee's name and your related account information in our database.

In addition to collecting Required Information, at the time of registration we collect a small amount of Optional Information from you. This information is used to tailor our account services to most effectively serve you and to better understand the aggregate profile of our clients. This information may also be used in developing new services.

Like any business interested in attracting and offering the highest quality of service to clients, IndiaIdeas may, from time to time, send you e-mail and other communication to tell you about BillDesk's services, features, functionality and content or seek voluntary information from you. This information is collected and stored with your individual BillDesk account information. This information is kept completely private and confidential. It is aggregated with that of all other clients to provide us with the ability to tailor our services and content to those individuals most interested in our service.

What are cookies and how does IndiaIdeas use them?

How does IndiaIdeas use my information?

IndiaIdeas uses your personal information in the delivery and payment of your bills. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to follow the explicit instructions you indicate either through direct contact with us or as provided through the BillDesk web site.

By providing necessary contact, financial and biller(s) /payee(s) information, BillDesk creates a member profile and registers your secure User ID and password. These provide you with access to the BillDesk services and ensure you the highest quality service in an efficient, cost effective and friendly manner.

Who is collecting information?

When you are at the BillDesk site and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with IndiaIdeas alone, unless it is specifically stated otherwise. Sometimes, in order to provide this co-branded service to you it may be necessary for us to share your personal information with our partner company. If data is being collected and/or maintained by any company other than IndiaIdeas, you will be notified prior to the time of the data collection or transfer. If you do not want your data to be shared, you can choose not to allow the transfer by not using that particular service.

Promotions that run on IndiaIdeas may be sponsored by companies other than IndiaIdeas or may be cosponsored by IndiaIdeas and another company. Some or all data collected during a promotion may be shared with the sponsor. If data will be shared, you will be notified prior to the time of data collection or transfer. You can decide not to participate in the promotion if you don't want your data to be shared.

What are my choices regarding collection, use, and distribution of my information?

IndiaIdeas may, from time to time, send you email regarding the BillDesk service or any other services, which we believe could be interest to you. Only IndiaIdeas (or agents working on behalf of IndiaIdeas and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings and only if you indicated that you do not object to these offers. You will always have the option of opting out of receiving such mail. Or, at any time you can easily edit your IndiaIdeas Account Information to no longer receive such offers and mailings. You will need your IndiaIdeas ID and Password in order to access your IndiaIdeas Account Information.You also have choices with respect to cookies. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies.

IndiaIdeas does not sell or rent user information to anyone. We will notify you at the time of data collection or transfer if your data will be shared with a third party and you will always have the option of not permitting the transfer. If you do not wish to allow your data to be shared, you can choose not to use a particular service or not to participate in certain promotions or contests.

What is IndiaIdeas's policy on allowing me to update, correct, or delete my personally identifiable information?

You may edit your BillDesk account information at any time by using your BillDesk ID and password. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new password.

Your BillDesk account can be deleted or deactivated , but doing so will result in your not being able to access any members-only area or use the BillDesk service. Please contact for further instructions about deleting or deactivating your BillDesk account. Residual information will remain within our archive records.

How does IndiaIdeas protect my personal and financial - related information?

IndiaIdeas is committed to keeping your personal and financial -related information private. As with all information, IndiaIdeas will never rent or sell your personal or financial -related information. IndiaIdeas will work with your biller/payee institution to present your bills, account balances and history to you on your BillDesk member pages. In order to present your billing information to you, IndiaIdeas receives that information from your financial institution and presents it to you over a secure-server. As with all personally identifiable information, we do not make this available to any third parties without your permission. Any user statistics that we may provide to prospective partners regarding service usage on BillDesk are provided in the aggregate only and do not include any personally identifiable information about any individual user.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?

Your BillDesk account information is password-protected so that you and only you have access to this personal information. You may edit your BillDesk account information by using your BillDesk ID and password.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, IndiaIdeas has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure all Personal Information that BillDesk collects online. We recommend that you do not divulge your password or your secret question and answer to anyone. BillDesk will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Also remember to sign out of your BillDesk account and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe.

When you give IndiaIdeas personal information, that information may be used, stored, processed or sent electronically, to servers outside of the country where you originally entered the information. Whenever IndiaIdeas handles Personal Information as described above, regardless of where this occurs, IndiaIdeas takes steps to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with the relevant Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy.
