What is CRY?

Child Relief and You - CRY is an independent Indian Organisation working for Indian children. Rs. 50, a dining table and a dream… was the legacy with which CRY - Child Relief and You was built. Seven Indians led by Rippan Kapur (1954-94), an Air India purser, came together in Mumbai in 1979. Each brought Rs. 7, Rippan’s mother contributed her dining table and a freedom movement was born for children.

CRY’s mission has always been to enable people to take on the responsibility of India’s millions of underprivileged children and motivate them to confront the situation through collective action thereby giving these children and themselves an opportunity to realise their full potential.

How does the BillDesk CRY donation service work?

You can make donations to CRY through the following simple steps:
Add CRY to your list of billers/ payees

1. Click on the Add Biller option and select your city from the dropdown
2. Choose CRY from the list of payees
3. Add the following key details:
   • Short Name (eg CRY1)
   • Contribution Scheme (Education/ HealthCare/ Support)
   • Mailing Address (where you want the CRY payment receipt to be mailed)

1. Click on New Bills option, and go to the list of payees where CRY account will appear
2. Against the CRY account, make a payment by clicking on the PAY button after entering:
   • Bill Number - Enter any unique 8 digit reference number (eg 32422322)
   • Bill Amount - Enter the amount you wish to pay (eg 2400.00)
   • Pay Amount - Re Enter the amount you wish to pay (eg 2400.00)
   • Pay From - Choose from your list of bank accounts
3. You will receive a success message confirming the receipt of your donation instructions

What kind of donations can I make?

You can donate for sponsoring the costs of Education and/or Healthcare for one child or a group of children, sponsorship Support of physically or mentally challenged children and/or supporting teachers, health-workers, balwadis, or non-formal education centres.

You may select any of the options provided (Education/ Healthcare/ Support) and proceed to donate. CRY will accept any amount for donations, however there are specific schemes as under:

One year of Education

• Rs 800/- for 1 child
• Rs 2400/- for 3 children
• Rs 4000/- for 5 children

One year of Education and Healthcare

• 1200/- for 1 child
• 600/- for 3 children
• 6000/- for 5 children

Support a physically/ mentally challenged child for one year

• Rs 3000/- for 1 child
• Rs 9000/- for 3 children
• Rs 15000/- for 5 children

Will my small contribution make a difference?

Yes, it certainly will. CRY has demonstrated over the years that every rupee counts and that no amount is too small. More than half the funds CRY raises come from individual donors. A further 20 per cent comes from the sale of CRY cards, calendars, diaries and stationary products.

Do I need to contact CRY for using the service?

No, You do not have to contact CRY for using the service. After you register for the service, we will in turn coordinate with CRY on your behalf.

Will I get a receipt online for the donations made?

Yes you will get a receipt online. Also CRY will send you the physical receipt by post for your contribution and also send you the Tax exemption certificate. The receipt will specify all your details like name, address, amount paid, scheme donated for, mode of payment, issuing bank name, etc.

Will I be entitled to tax exemption even if I donate via the Internet? ?

Yes. All payments are entitled to tax exemption. Donors can avail of either 100 or 50 per cent tax exemption. To avail of the 100 per cent tax exemption, please select the option marked CRYSID (CRY Supported Initiatives for Development). If however you do not indicate your choice, we will channelise the donation towards CRYSID for 100 per cent tax exemption

How will I know that my donation has reached CRY?
