What is CPAA?

Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) is a registered charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) working towards the Total Management of Cancer as a disease, which includes:

  • Spreading awareness on the dangers inherent in accepted social practices such as chewing of tobacco, early marriage, multiple pregnancies, etc, which are responsible for approximately 70% of cancers in India.
  • Initiating steps for the early detection of cancer since treatment at this stage leads to a cure in a majority of cases.
  • To provide complete assistance to cancer patients beyond that given by the medical profession, that is, taking a holistic approach, not attacking the malignancy in isolation.
CPAA was established in 1969, serves needy cancer patients from all over India, and even neighbouring countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan. CPAA is an empathetic, reassuring, non-medical presence that has supported the treatment and overall needs of more than 40,000 cancer patients.

How do I get started with the BillDesk service?

To make a donation to CPAA, you need to be a registered customer with BillDesk.
If you are not a registered BillDesk customer, you can start and use the BillDesk service in three simple steps, as described below. Keep your chequebook with you to complete the registration.

  1. You need to complete the Registration form by providing BillDesk with your personal profile and contact information, and selecting a unique user name and password.
  2. You need to complete the Payment authorisation form by furnishing details of your bank account - MICR code of the bank branch, your name as it appears in your bank account, and the type of account. BillDesk will thereafter send you a pre-filled enrollment form and a bank authorisation form along with a Welcome Kit, which will detail the entire BillDesk service.
  3. You need to complete the following:
    • Sign the Registration Form sent to you
    • Sign the Payment Authorisation form(s) sent to you.
You can submit the above documents by mailing them, using the pre-paid business reply envelope, contained in the Welcome Kit.

You are now all set to make donations to CPAA.

How does the BillDesk CPAA donation service work?

After you have logged into BillDesk using your UserID and Password, to make donations to CPAA:

  • Go to the Add Billers/Payees option and set up CPAA as a Payee from the List of Payees in your city
  • To set up your CPAA donation account, provide the following key details:
    • Name
    • Mailing Address (where CPAA will send you a payment receipt)
    • Contribution Scheme (Cancer Screening/ Patient Care)
  • Go to the New Bills option, where CPAA account will appear as a Payee
  • Enter a bill number (for your reference), bill amount (same as the payment amount), payment amount, choose your bank account - and click on the PAY button

What kind of donations can I make?

The various contribution schemes and the specific amounts that you can donate against such schemes are listed at http://www.cpaaindia.org/contribute/index.htm. At BillDesk, you can assist in broadly two categories - Cancer Screening of patients (100% tax exemption) and Patient Care (50% tax exemption). You may select any of the options offered and proceed to donate.

Do I need to contact CPAA for using the service?

No, You do not have to contact CPAA for using the service. After you register for the service, we will in turn coordinate with CPAA on your behalf.

Will I get a receipt online for the donations made?

Yes you will get a receipt online. Also CPAA will send you the physical receipt by post for your contribution and also send you the Tax exemption certificate. The receipt will specify all your details like name, address and amount paid.

Will I be entitled to tax exemption even if I donate via the Internet?

Yes. Payments made to CPAA through BillDesk entitles you for either a 100% tax exemption (Cancer Screening category) or a 50% tax exemption (Patient Care category).
